Pyrki is Kartoflanie’s new group for kids. We’ll start with games, rhythm, and the basic steps, and build toward real dances and real performances alongside the adult ensemble.
Why Pyrki? It comes from pyry — the western Polish, Poznań-region word for ziemniaki, potatoes. So if the grown-ups are the Kartoflanie, the kids are our little Pyrki.

What to bring
Comfy clothes, clean indoor shoes with smooth soles, and a water bottle. That’s it.

First class free
After the free first class, low monthly dues and sliding-scale options help make Pyrki affordable for every family. Ask us about the rate that works for yours.

Questions you might have.
Does my child need to be Polish?
Not at all. Pyrki is open to every child in the Boise area, whatever their background. Instruction is in English — we just pick up a few Polish words for the steps along the way.
Does my child need dance experience?
No. We teach everything from scratch, starting with games and rhythm before we get to real choreography. Complete beginners are exactly who this group is for.
Do parents stay during class?
You’re welcome either way. Parents are always welcome to stay and watch, or to use the hour to run errands. And if you’d like to dance yourself, our adult ensemble meets Sundays at 1:00 PM.
Will my child need a costume?
Not to start. We’ll sort out authentic Polish folk costumes when the group is ready to perform. For weekly classes, comfy clothes are all you need.
When works for your family?
We want Pyrki to meet at a time families can actually make. Tell us which days and times could work, and we’ll be in touch as soon as we set the schedule.
